Aloo Paratha has an universal appeal and is equally liked by vegetarians & non vegetarian. Breakfast, lunch, dinner or lunch box… we are never tired of this humble stuffed aloo paratha that goes easy with all the pickles.
A dollop of butter, bowl of plain or masala curd and tea is all that you need to enjoy these lip smacking Aloo Paratha. This seems to me like a match made in heaven, as you go to any place and it doesn’t matters as to what language people speak or what is the culture difference….if you are served with Aloo Paratha, then you would be served the same way i.e. with butter, pickle & curd.
Yes, it is that popular!
What makes these Parathas so irresistible and popular is that spicy aloo/potato filling which is made with boiled potatoes and a generous amount of green chilly, ginger, onion and freshly chopped coriander. Few people also love to add a bit of Garam masala powder to enhance the spice quotient. Go to any Dhaba (Roadside restaurants on highways) and you could also find deep fried aloo Paratha or the ones cooked in Tandoor (Clay oven).
But one thing is common and true to the core… Eating aloo Paratha without BUTTER is an offence!
…..and every food lover would agree to this. Even if you are counting calories, we would say - “Enjoy Parathas and think later how to melt down those extra calories.”
Well, I never mind running a kilometer extra on trade mill for this mouth watering combo!
Though Aloo Paratha taste good with all types of pickles, but honestly they go exceptionally great with Mango pickle.
In winters, enjoy aloo paratha with Amla pickle which is rich in Vitamin C and made with minimum oil. Also enjoy with Mooli ki chutney.
For a complete Punjabi style meal, have these aloo Parathas with Namkeen lassi or Masala chaas.
