Here we are giving you a complete Pure Vegetarian Recipe to make this Chinese style Fried Rice that uses assorted seasonal veggies, ginger, garlic and sauces. The most peculiar thing about this Chinese fried rice is that no spices are used in it. All the heat and flavors come from vegetables and sauces like soy sauce, chilly sauce and tomato sauce. The best part there is basically no set pattern followed as to what kind of veggies you can use in this recipe. A simple rule regarding this is…use veggies that can be eaten ‘Raw’ as in Chinese cuisine ingredients are cooked just till tender so that they retain a ‘Bite’. They are never cooked completely as in our Indian cuisine and that’s why Chinese food is often known for its ‘Crunchiness’. Here we have used capsicum, baby corn, carrot and spring onion…but you can also use veggies like mushrooms, onion, beans, sweet corn, broccoloi, cauliflower etc.

Recipe Ingredients

  • Cooked rice - 2 cups
  • Spring onion (Finely Chopped) - 1/4 cup
  • Carrot (Finely Chopped) - 1/4 cup
  • Capsicum (Finely Chopped) - 1/4 cup
  • Baby corn (Finely Chopped) - 1/4 cup
  • Ginger (Finely Chopped) - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic (Finely Chopped) - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - To taste
  • Black pepper powder - A pinch or two
  • White vinegar - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Green chilly sauce - 1 teaspoon
  • Tomato sauce - 1 teaspoon
  • Oil - 1 tablespoon 

For Garnish -

  • Spring onion greens

How to make Chinese Fried Rice

To make Chinese Fried Rice, keep all the ingredients handy as all the cooking would be done at high flame.

  1. Let us start with heating oil in a pan. Use a large pan so that it can have sufficient room for the ingredients and there is no over crowing.
  2.  Add chopped ginger, garlic and cook for few seconds.
  3. Now add in all the chopped vegetables and cook for half a minute. Remember they should be tender and retain a ‘Bite’.
  4. Time to add in the cooked rice, sauces, salt, vinegar, black pepper powder.
  5. Give a nice stir and let it cook for a minute so that all the flavors can come together.
  6. Remove from heat. Chinese Fried Rice is ready. Garnish with spring onion greens and serve hot.



Step by Step Photos and Recipe of Chinese Fried Rice

Step 1 -

Heat 2 tablespoon of oil in a pan.

Step 2-

Add chopped garlic, ginger and fry till pink.

Step3-

Add chopped spring onion, carrot, capsicum and mix.

Step 4-

Cook veggies till tender. This would take about 2 minutes on medium heat.

Step 5-

Add 2 cups of steamed rice.

Step 6-

Season with salt, black pepper powder, tomato sauce, soy sauce, chilli sauce and mix to combine well.

Step 7-

Cook for 2-3 minutes. Chinese fried rice is now ready. Serve hot!
