This is a No Onion Garlic Recipe, but if prefer you can top it with some chopped onion or spring onions.

Recipe Ingredients

  • Green peas peeled - 200 gms. Approx
  • Ginger (Finely chopped) - 1 teaspoon
  • Green chilly (Chopped) - To taste
  • Red chilli powder - A pinch or two
  • Fresh coriander chopped - A handful
  • Lime juice
  • Salt

To serve -

  • Sev or farsaan

How to make Hare Matar Ki Ghugni

  • For Hare Matar Ki Ghugni, we need to boil the Peas. You can either use fresh seasonal peas or frozen ones.
  • Fresh peas can be easily boiled in a pressure cooker.
  • Take 1 cup of water for 2 cups of peas in a pressure cooker and cook over high heat for 1 whistle over high flame.
  • After whistle reduce the flame to sim and simmer for 4-5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let the pressure settle before opening the lid.
  • Boiled seasonal peas are ready.
  • In a mixing bowl take boiled peas, coriander, ginger, chilli and mix to combine well.
  • Season with salt, red chilli powder, lime juice and give a gentle mix taking care not to mash the peas.
  • Hare Matar Ki Ghugni is ready. Serve while it is still hot and do not miss to pair along sev or farsaan.
