Recipe Ingredients

  • Tomato – 4 medium
  • Bell pepper – 1 large
  • Onion (Chopped) – 1 medium
  • Fresh coriander (Chopped) – A handful
  • Tomato sauce – 1 table spoon (Optional)
  • Green chilly (Chopped) – 1 small or to taste
  • Black pepper powder – A pinch or two
  • Olive oil – 1 table spoon
  • Lemon juice – 1 table spoon or to taste
  • Salt – To taste

How to make Roasted Tomato & Bell Pepper Salsa

  • Roast the tomatoes & bell pepper over direct flame until the skin gets slightly charred from all sides. Alternatively, you can also grill in oven for 4-5 minutes. Keep turning occasionally for even roasting.
  • When they become cool enough to handle….peel the skin and discard.
  • Now, in a mixer combine the tomato pulp, bell pepper and rest of the ingredients. Pulse it 3-4 times or till the ingredients come together.

‘Roasted Tomato & Bell Pepper Salsa’ is ready. Transfer to a serving bowl and relish with your favorite chips or crackers.

Tips –

  • Do not ‘Pulse’ the ingredients too much in the mixer, otherwise you might turn your salsa to a paste. Salsa tastes best when slightly chunky.
  • Depending on how spicy you like your salsa, add the pepper with seeds or you can remove half seeds or all of the seeds.
  • If you like ‘Garlicy’ flavor, then add some roasted garlic while pulsing.
  • If you want to keep it ‘Mild spicy’ and not too robust, then omit adding green chilly. Top your salsa with red chilly flakes instead. They have less amount of heat.
