One of the most indigenous protein sources of India, sattu is no stranger to the locals of Bihar, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, UP, and West Bengal. Basically, ‘Sattu’ is a flour consisting of ground pulses and cerels mainly Bengal gram and barley. The old school method of making sattu involves roasting Bengal gram or channa in sand, sieving away the sand with a strainer and then pounding the roasted channa into flour. But, you don't need to go through all such hectic procedure as the packets of sattu now comes handy and you can get in variuos departmental stores.
