‘Tomato gathiya nu shaak’ is a very unusual but delicious sweet n sour Kathiawadi recipe. This is a simple home style curry that usually you won’t find in fancy restaurant menus. It is made with simmering ‘Gathiyas’ or ‘Sev’ (Fried gramflour snacks) in a lip smacking tomato based gravy. And yes….. a keeper dish for those days when you don’t have sufficient vegetables at home, as a packet of gathiya comes handy. Ideal for simple & no fuss weekend meals !

One thing that I absolutely love about Gujarati cuisine is that they do not depend only on 'Veggies' to make meals. But anything handy like a packet of papad, farsaan, besan, mangodi can become the hero of their entire breakfast, snack or even main course. Like see here, such a simple recipe and what beautiful flavors! Well if you love Gujarati recipes and want to try some, then go for rice khichu, khaman dhokala and amiri khaman
